Yes, all Umberto Giannini products always have and always will be cruelty free
Yes. Our co‐founder Claire, a lifelong vegan created Umberto Giannini to be 100% Vegan since launch in 1998. Meaning there has never been and never will be any animal products or by‐products in our products or ingredients.
Umberto Giannini products are designed for everyone to achieve salon quality performance in their own home. We create Pro‐approved award‐winning haircare for everyone and every hair type.

Grow Long ‐ Grow Longer, Strong hair faster. Formulated with our unique Umberto Giannini Caffeine‐Gro complex.
Salon Smooth – Transforms hair from dull to dazzling for a ‘stepped out of the salon’ smooth finish.
Scalp Restore‐ Soothe & Revive dry, Flaky scalps. Pineapple enzymes increase cell renewal, keeping hair healthy and strong.

All our bottles, tubes and jars are fully recyclable.
We are committed to continually evolving our sustainability choices. By the end of 2022 we will have proudly switched our packaging to more sustainable alternatives including bio‐ plastic Sugarcane and PCR (Post Consumer Regrind) Plastic ‐ resulting in 93% of our range packaged in recyclable packaging. We are working closely with our suppliers to be fully recyclable in the future.

Is Umberto Giannini products gluten‐free?
Silicones are very effective at keeping naturally dry hair hydrated. Therefore, we
selectively use Silicones in our products when a silicone‐free formula would not be as beneficial or effective.
All our shampoos are SLS‐Free (Free from Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) which is known to be harsh and irritating.
Some of our other products are formulated without sulphates including Curl Jelly wash, Banana Butter shampoo, Coily Curl shampoo, Violet & Chamomile Blonde shampoo & our Curl Repair.
All our products are thoroughly tested by our in‐house team and at our salons as part of the development process with real people.
If your skin or hair is sensitive, we suggest using our Scalp Restore range which is designed to be more sensitive to your scalp.
However, if you have any history of skin problems or allergies always speak to your GP before you try any new products and carry out a patch test on your wrist or behind your ear prior to using any of our products for the first time.
Most of our products are Curly Girl Friendly. Our Curl jelly, & Curl Whip mousse are a great Curl Girl Friendly duo to give you bouncy, defined curls.
